Model: WinScan Pro-2000
Operating System: Windows XP (Note: might work with other versions of this os.)
File: wsp2k.exe
Comments:
This driver, which is available at www.fida.com/driver/scanner/wsp2k.exe
(Linked from www.fida.com/download.htm#SCANNER)
Actually works in Windows XP and 2000 although it says it's only for Windows 98/95/ME
(So it works for all the standard Windows versions)
Had to ***** around with this Winscan 2000-PRO to find the driver
SECRET to installing on Windows XP/2000
Just download the Windows 98/95 driver from fida.com (www.fida.com/driver/scanner/wsp2k.exe)...
(The file I uploaded)
Extract the archive to a folder by running it.
[[NOTE for beginner driver updaters
--To open device manager--
Right-Click "My Computer"
Click Properties
Click Hardware tab
Click Device Manager button
OR
Right-Click "My Computer"
Click Manage (then wait for it to load)
Click Device Manager under System Tools in the left-pane.]]
Then "Update driver" on your "USB device" (the one with the yellow mark in device manager if you already plugged in the scanner and failed to install a driver automatically)
--OR--
plug in the scanner's USB cord (if you haven't ever plugged it in yet)
Choose to find the driver in the folder you extracted to.
(use "Have Disk" button, or "Search in" field)
It will warn you about "no digital signature" always say "Continue anyway" (whenever you see this type of MS ************>
Your USB device will now be called "Winscan PRO-2000()" or somesuch.
To install TWAIN support for scanning pictures, you need to run the "SETUP.EXE" file in the folder containing the extracted files.
Enjoy.
Why it says "NA" and not "Try your luck with this anyways..." is beyond me..
