nVIDIA FX6600LE Driver. Background and system configuration: Purchased open box non-branded GeForce 6600 PCI-E video adapter locally at a computer shop and installed on self built system with Biostar NF44A7 motherboard with Athlon 64 3000+ CPU with 1gig DDR 400 RAM (Single Stick), and with Generic USB 2.0/FW 400 Combo PCI Card and Seagate 300 gig ATA-100 Hard Drive running XP Pro 64bit OS with all hi priority, software optional, and hardware optional updates from Windows Update Site installed and up to date. Also have Windows Defender Beta 2 running along with nVidia's provided Firewall and net manager program.

Need for Driver: Upon installing drivers for video card, I discovered that the wrong CD was in the box and had to find nVidia Forceware drivers for this board.

This same version driver from nVidia's site would generate an error saying that I was not running a 64bit operating system and force me to abort.

After trying other earlier version drivers from various locations without success updating Windows currently installed driver, found this driver on a third party site and downloaded and tried it with success.

Upgraded my 15" 1024 X 768 resolution LCD monitor to a 19" widescreen ProView LCD monitor with 1440 X 900 optimal resolution at 75 hertz and the driver works well at this resolution as well with the new monitor.

Apparently driver on nVidia's site is either corrupted, or corrupting during download on my system, as I tried downloading and installing it twice.

Anyway this same version driver from another site worked fine and is apparently the latest version driver to date.

I hope this helps any of you experiencing similar problems.

Note: Have "not" experienced any problems with various higher end 3D modeling and animation programs or PhotoShop that I have read some complaints about in various forums by others with similar hardware setups.

Note2: I do not game, so I can not provide any input in compatibility with any gaming applications.

Good Luck and I hope this driver helps.

Ron
